Sustainable Health Habits: Grounding mats

As I create individualized nutritional support plans for people who have been living with fatigue, brain fog, and pain for much too long, I am struck by a profound irony. The very symptoms that make the nutritional work so important also make it so difficult to complete!

When the symptoms of inflammation in all their various forms compete for your attention--taking supplements on a rigorous schedule feels nearly out of reach.

Wouldn't it be great if there were a way to reduce inflammation without much work or thought?

And then I discovered grounding. Or rather, I RE-discovered grounding.

I tried it once before, before my own health deteriorated in the dramatic ways that lead to me study functional nutrition. And frankly, there was not a big, noticeable change. So I stopped.

So why does this matter so much to me now?

Now that I am older, and my health journey is more intense, the grounding mat has become a vital part of my sound sleep regimen. If I find myself wakeful at night, I double check and invariably I have accidentally unplugged my mat during the day. What a noticeable difference. And in the world of cellular function, body detoxification and brain health, sleep quality is a game changer.

It makes me wonder where I would be if I had kept grounding back when the effects weren't so apparent.

For those friends and clients who are struggling to reach a new level of healthy, grounding at night is a wonderful "stop-gap" measure.
It is fully sustainable.
It is completely passive.
It is a one-time investment.
It works!

There are seriously few things in the world
that take so little and give so much.

After a little research, my checklist for a good mat includes the following:
  • Organic cotton fabric covers that allow for skin contact without exposure to metals, synthetics or conventional cotton toxins during sleep.
  • Alligator clip mechanisms so cords can be exchanged between mats as needed.
  • In-line fuses so, in the extremely unlikely event of a lightening strike, your loved on is protected.
  • Separation between the grounding mat the the cover material. Washing grounding fabrics tends to reduce conductivity. This means that you can remove the cover, wash it, and enjoy the same conductivity as before.
  • Size options so you can have small, direct contact or large enough for a sleeping coverage if preferred.
  • No upside or downside, so any contact will result in grounding.
  • A reasonable cost!
The market is constantly changing, but the cheapest options are found at amazon.com The highest quality options seem to be at The intuition-physician's website.

Happy Grounding!
